Holiday Tips for Pets
The Holiday Season can be very stressful on your pet, so here’s a few tips to get your pets through with minimal anxiety. Scheduling is always important in a dog's daily life. During the Holiday Season scheduling becomes more important than ever! Because we will have friends and family over to visit, or perhaps go to visit them, our schedule becomes very erratic. When our schedule changes, we inadvertently stress out our dogs. So this Holiday Season, make sure that your dog's scheduled meals, play time, and walks remain just that, on schedule! Also, make sure that when you have a houseful of company, your dog is in a secure, out of the way place so he/she won’t get injured or have the opportunity to eat people-food, which could bring about serious illness. Be sure that all of your house guests know the rules your dog abides by, and the commands you use, to keep consistency. If you will be traveling with your dog, be sure to travel safely by utilizing a crate or seatbelt restraint.

Many dangers lurk around the house during this festive time. The biggest danger posed to our pets is
the Christmas Tree. If you have a young pet, make sure the pet only has access near the tree when you are there to watch. Chewing the cords to the lights, breaking glass bulbs, and tinsel are just a few of
the dangers. Each of these decorations can pose serious injury. Poinsettia Plants are poisonous to cats and dogs, so be sure the plant is out of their reach. The biggest thing to remember is if your eyes are not literally on your pet, then your pet shouldn’t have access to rooms with these potential hazards.
