Puppy Training (Free!)
Our puppy training class is a one time, group class offered for puppies:     6-14 weeks of age
This is an extremely important developmental time in your dog’s life. Bad behavior patterns get their start at this age as well as many types of fears, aggression, and associations. A little effort on the owners part during this “puppyhood” can produce unbelievable results and set the stage for future training. The topics covered in the DOGstar Training Puppy Class are:

  • House Breaking
  • Socialization
  • Crate Training
  • Chewing, Destructive Behavior
  • Toys, Treats
  • Biting/Aggression
  • Positive Reinforcement Training, Lure Training
  • Question & Answer
  • Grooming/Desensitizing

Basic Obedience
There are really only two reasons why a dog fails to do what he’s told: 1) he’s not listening, or 2) he doesn’t understand.
For dogs 4 months and older, the DOGstar Basic Obedience Class is a must. This program is designed to make communication possible between dog and owner. Classes are held weekly, and will cover all the tasks the owner wants their dog to learn. Dog owners who are not skilled in behavior modification have to rely on yelling and/or punishment (both of which will usually result in gradual deterioration of the pet/owner bond) OR the lack of having a dog who’s intuitive enough to figure out what is being asked of them. The proper approach to training will increase your dog's confidence (and yours) as well as produce a reliable companion who will be welcomed anywhere.
The curriculum for the Basic Obedience course entails:

  • Getting the dogs attention
  • Jumping/play time
  • Come
  • Heel
  • Sit
  • Stay
  • Down
  • Stand for exam
  • Off leash
  • Behavior problems in the home
